Dental Bridges in Winter Garden, FL
A bridge, a device used to replace missing teeth, attaches artificial teeth to adjacent natural teeth, called abutment teeth. Bridges are a great option for your oral health needs and are permanently cemented.
Why Do I Need a Dental Bridge?
All of your teeth play an important role in speaking, chewing, and maintaining the proper alignment of other teeth. Teeth were designed to complement each other, and when teeth are missing, extra forces are placed on the remaining teeth that often lead to a cascade effect of losing more teeth and a downward spiral of overall dental health. You can often avoid this downward spiral by placing a bridge.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS FOR GETTING A BRIDGE?
The attachment procedure usually takes two or three appointments to complete. During the first appointment, we will prepare the teeth along the gap by removing a portion of the enamel or dentin and take impressions of the teeth, which we’ll send to a lab where the bridge will be constructed. Once the bridge is returned to us, we’ll cement it to the natural teeth next to the space left by the missing tooth.
Once we have decided together a bridge is the best option to replace a tooth, it will take two appointments. We reshape the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth or teeth at the first appointment and then scan the teeth and digitally send it to our lab (no more yucky impressions). We then put a temporary bridge in place until your permanent bridge comes back from the lab. We remove the temporary bridge at the second appointment, and once we are sure the permanent bridge is a perfect fit, we will cement it in place.
