Inlays and Onlays in Winter Garden, FL

Inlays and onlays serve the same purpose as fillings, but they are made in a lab with stronger material, allowing us to get the contour of the filling perfect. Our patients come to us for inlays and onlays to create unnoticeable fillings and strengthen weakened teeth. These restorations are esthetically pleasing and very strong, thanks to new bonding technologies. Since they are much stronger than traditional fillings, they tend to last comfortably for decades.

how are inlays and onlays applied?

Inlays and onlays require two appointments to complete the procedure. During the first visit, any previous restorations and decay are removed, and the tooth is reshaped. Then we’ll scan the tooth and send it to our lab and place a temporary restoration in the tooth until your permanent one comes back from the lab.

At the second appointment, the temporary sealant is removed. Dr. Gary or Dr. Deborah will then make sure that the inlay or onlay fits correctly. If the fit is satisfactory, the inlay or onlay will be bonded to the tooth with a strong resin and polished to a smooth finish.

Key Benefits:

Inlays and Onlays are much stronger than regular fillings and preserve more tooth structure than crowns. They are ideal for teeth needing a restoration that exceeds a filling’s capability, yet enough healthy tooth structure remains to avoid a crown.
